This text is focused on the presentation of five concepts which are presented to help the reader gain a richer and fuller understanding of how Chinese herb formulas can be arranged for the treatment of various diseases. These five concepts are the Shang Han Lun models of disease pathology; the concepts of qi, water, and blood; the basic classifications of formulas; the basic conformations of formulas; and Western medical indications. Over 85 formulas from the Shang Han Lun, the Jin Gui Yao Lue, and other classical texts are arranged according to body systems/areas. This work closely follows the works of the author's mentor, Hong Yen Hsu.
