In Chinese, "Chi" (or "Qi") means "Life Force" and "Life Energy". The Original Chi Machine, the Chi Harmony, was invented by a Japanese who invented a machine that moves the body in a simple side to side movement. This swinging fishtail like movement gently moves the body side to side, causing blood to circulate from a caudal to anterior direction throughtout the body in a more efficient manner. Since the original invention of the Chi Machine, there have been other manufacturers who decided to make similar devices at a much lower cost. The difference of these later versions of Chi devices was that many are able to control the speed of the lateral movement whereas the Original Chi Machine, or Chi Harmony, was designed only to have a set speed.
